I wanted to add a Bonus Track to this collection of songs. When the graphic design was being done for the CD cover, I had no idea what song I was going to use for the Bonus Track. I had to review previously unreleased material and even consider recording a new song. The graphics for the cover needed to be done weeks in advance of actually pressing the music so I called the song "Bonus Track".
There are a few songs from the "The Livin On Dreams" sessions with Randy Bachman and Guess Who bandmates, Garry Peterson and Donniw McDougall. I considered one of these tracks but I needed more time to re-mix them.
I also considered some songs I recorded in Nashville for my "Big Diamonds" CD (never released) however they may appear in the future on a new disc altogether.
So the song I did tack onto this CD (at least for the first pressing) is . . . "We Work To Live" . This bluesy track was cut at Rock Beach recording studio in White Rock, engineered by David Hayes and mixed in Nashville at The Spank Factory by Rob Dennis and I.
This track features blistering blues guitar riffing from non other than "Jerry (Mama Let "em Play) Doucette. On drums is Roge Belanger, I'm playing keyboard bass, electric and acoustic pianos and Roge and I are singing the background vocals.
The song is a lament about the hours I would spend in traffic commuting to my former job in downtown Vancouver. I was the Creative Director of Advertising for two major daily newspapers and my commute was about a hour each way. Like the song says, I would sit in bumper to bumper traffic, get into the office and then email my coworkers one floor above my office. I could do that from my home office . . . so now I do :)
We don't live to work, we work to live! Enjoy the song and let me know what you think.
